Event Details

Amplifying Discourse with Math Language Routines

Let’s take a deeper dive into the Open Up Resources K–8 Math curriculum. The 8 Mathematical Language Routines (MLRs) are a vital part of learning for all multilingual children, but beyond that, they can have an impact on all learners. Experience engaging ways to implement these routines and support all children in your classroom for maximum instructional impact.

**Tickets are non-refundable.

Amplifying Discourse with Math Language Routines
(Jan 31)

This curriculum builds on foundational principles for supporting language development for all children. Let’s dive into the purpose of the Mathematical Language Routines and experience the ways we can make small adjustments that make a big impact on discourse and accessibility to grade-level math learning.

Launching Learning with Math Language Routines
(Feb 7)

During the launch, the teacher makes sure that children understand the context and what the problem is asking them to do. Let’s engage in some Mathematical Language Routines that can launch learning, prompting children to engage in more productive work time with grade-level mathematics.

Supporting the Synthesis with Math Language Routines
(Feb 21)

The purpose of the synthesis is to ensure that all students have an opportunity to understand the mathematical punch line of the activity and situate the new learning within students’ previous understanding. Let’s learn about Mathematical Language Routines to leverage during this time to maximize the impact of the activity and lesson syntheses.

Comparing and Connecting Using The 5 Practices
(Feb 28)

In a problem-based curriculum, like Open Up Resources K–8 Math, facilitating a task with the 5 Practices framework will result in students making connections to learn grade-level mathematics. Let’s prepare for more productive discussions as we anticipate, monitor, select, sequence, and connect, together!

$75 per session or $225 to attend the series!
