Recipients Named for the 2025 Open Up Resources High School Mathematics Scholarship

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP HONORS STUDENTS WITH EXEMPLARY ACHIEVEMENTS IN MATHEMATICS AND POSITIVE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR COMMUNITY

Five graduates of Thornwood High School in South Holland (IL) and Thornridge High School in Dolton (IL), two schools in Thornton Township High School District 205, were named the 2025 recipients of the Open Up Resources High School Mathematics Scholarship. The award was presented by Open Up Resources CEO Jason Isaacs to: Daniel Martinez, Jeremy A. Price, Zimbiat Kanoyinsola Jimoh, Andrea Villalobos, and Zamiyah Imani Martin.

The Open Up Resources High School Mathematics Scholarship is an annual recognition bestowed upon graduating high school seniors who demonstrate a passion for mathematics, have plans to pursue higher education or vocational training in mathematics-related fields, and are currently using the Open Up High School Mathematics curriculum.

The $15,000 scholarship was awarded as follows: two (2) $5,000 scholarships, two (2) $2,000 scholarships, and one (1) $1,000 scholarship.Funds will be used at the recipients’ discretion to cover tuition, registration fees, books, and any other educational expenses related to their college or trade school studies.

This year’s recipients were selected because of their exemplary leadership within their school and community, as well as their commitment to academic success in the years ahead.

In their application, Zimbiat Kanoyinsola Jimoh expressed their vision for the future, “This scholarship aligns perfectly with my mission to bridge gaps in healthcare and education through data-driven solutions. I am to contribute to a more equitable society, ensuring that underserved communities have access to the resources and care they deserve.”

Andrea Villalobos noted that, with the Open Up Resources Math Scholarship, she is “committed to continuing to give back to [her] community by inspiring other young women to pursue careers in math and STEM.

I commend all of this year’s recipients on their exceptional dedication to mathematics and deep commitment to their communities,” said Jason Isaacs, CEO of Open Up Resources.

Whether it’s her diligence in class, her willingness to support peers, or her laser focus on personal growth, she represents exactly what the Open Up Resources scholarship program was designed to celebrate. We cannot wait to see all she continues to accomplish,” said Veronica Mosley-Raggs, Division Leader.
