- Session 1: Building Community, Student Agency, and a Culture of Discourse in the Mathematics Classroom (July 28)
Tired of the same back-to-school activities and routines? Join Open Up Resources coaches and fellow educators in this interactive session to learn and explore new ways to launch your math classroom for a transformative 2025-2026 school year. We’ll share ideas for co-creating mathematics community, honoring student identities, promoting rich discourse, and more – beginning day one! Includes free, take-away digital resources for attendees. - Session 2: Preparing Families & Caregivers for Meaningful Math Support at Home (July 29)
Families and caretakers are a critical part of all students’ schooling and the learning process. Many parents and caretakers did not learn math using conceptual strategies, and they often have questions or feel ill-equipped to support their children with mathematics outside of the classroom. In this session, we’ll discuss strategies for authentically including adults in math education and ideas for presenting information to your communities. Let’s set up all families and students for successful at-home math learning from the start!
- Session 3: Bridging Literacy & Numeracy: Strategies for Enhancing Reading & Writing in Math (July 30)
Literacy and mathematics might be separate periods, but access and understanding in math is deeply tied to literacy skills. Mathematics learning requires reading comprehension, writing, revisions, interpreting and using language, and more. Together, we’ll make connections in this session between literacy and mathematics and learn practical ways to integrate reading and writing strategies into math instruction to improve math outcomes for all students.
$49 per session or $99 to attend the 3-part virtual series
